QUESTIONS
 AND
ANSWERS

Q. How old do I have to be to join YHEC?
A. You may join as soon as you receive your Hunter Education Certification,
      which is 10 years old  in Louisiana

Q. What if my son/daughter does not have his/her hunter’s safety certification?
A. That’s fine. We have certified hunter’s safety instructors and offer a class during the spring.

Q. Do I have to own all the equipment to join?
A. No. . You are encouraged to have you own eye and ear protection for sanitary  
     reasons, otherwise the organization owns plenty of equipment for your use.  

Q. Do I have to practice and compete in ALL events?
A. No. you are encouraged to participate in all Responsibility Events (Wildlife Id, 
     Hunter Safety Trail, Orienteering,  Hunter Responsibility Test) and Archery,    
     You may begin the firearm events when you feel you are ready

Q. Is YHEC opened to girls?
A. YES. We currently have five girls in the Acadiana YHEC Program .
